To qualify for employment as a teacher in Yobe State, applicants must meet the following requirements:
General Requirements
Citizenship: Must be a Nigerian citizen with valid means of identification (National ID Card, International Passport, Voter’s Card, Driver’s License, or NIN)
Age Limit: Must be between 22 and 35 years at the time of application
State of Origin: Preference given to indigenes of Yobe State. Non-indigenes must provide valid proof of residence in Yobe State
Character: Must be of good moral character and behavior with no criminal record or pending criminal case
Health: Must be physically and mentally fit for teaching duties

Academic Qualifications
O’Level: WAEC (SSCE), NECO, GCE, NABTEB, or equivalent with a minimum of five (5) credit passes including Mathematics and English Language
Primary Six Certificate: First School Leaving Certificate (required for all applicants)
Teaching Qualification: Must possess any of the following from a recognized institution:
- National Certificate of Education (NCE) in Sciences, Languages, or relevant subjects
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) in relevant subject
- Bachelor of Arts/Science in Education (B.A. Ed / B.Sc. Ed)
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc / B.A) plus Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)
- Higher National Diploma (HND) in relevant field
Teaching Certificate: Valid teaching certificate such as TRCN (Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria) certificate is required. NTRC Certificate is optional but advantageous
Special Education: For certain positions, a Diploma in Special Education may be required
NYSC Certificate: Discharge Certificate or Exemption Letter (for B.Sc and HND holders)
State of Origin Certificate: Certificate of State of Origin or Local Government Identification duly signed by appropriate authorities
Birth Certificate: Valid Birth Certificate from the National Population Commission or Sworn Affidavit of Declaration of Age
Computer Literacy: Basic knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), is mandatory for all applicants
Teaching Experience: Previous teaching experience is an added advantage.

Selection Process
The Yobe State Teachers recruitment follows a transparent, fair, and merit-based selection process. Successful candidates will progress through the following stages:
Stage 1: Application Screening
All submitted applications will be screened to verify that candidates meet the minimum eligibility requirements. Applications will be assessed based on educational qualifications, teaching certifications, and completeness of required documents.
Stage 2: Shortlisting
Only qualified applicants who meet all requirements will be shortlisted for the next stage. The list of shortlisted candidates will be published on the official portal (www.yobestate.gov.ng), and candidates will be contacted directly via email and SMS.
Stage 3: Computer-Based Test (CBT) / Aptitude Test
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a Computer-Based Test or aptitude test to assess their subject knowledge, teaching competency, and general aptitude. The date, time, and venue for the examination will be communicated to shortlisted candidates via email and SMS. Failure to report at the screening center within the stipulated time will be considered as declining the offer.
Stage 4: Screening and Interview
Candidates who perform well in the CBT will be invited for screening and oral interview. During this stage, original copies of all certificates and credentials must be presented for verification. This is also where the government implements measures to verify staff records and eliminate any irregularities.
Stage 5: Final Selection and Deployment
