What Does ‘Shortlisted’ Mean?

Is the FCSC Shortlist for 2026 Out?

Yes. The Federal Civil Service Commission has released the shortlisted candidates’ list for the 2026 recruitment exercise. Shortlisted candidates are notified through their portal dashboard and by email to their registered email addresses. The portal is the primary and authoritative source; do not rely solely on email notifications.

Note on exercise status: The online recruitment update portal for the 2025/2026 exercise closed on Wednesday, 30 July 2025. As of early 2026, the exercise is in its post-shortlist phase with CBT and screening underway for selected candidates. Monitor the official portal for the latest stage updates.

How to Check Your FCSC Shortlist Status

All shortlist status checks are conducted exclusively through the official FCSC recruitment portal. Follow these steps:

1. Visit the official FCSC recruitment portal at recruitment.fedcivilservice.gov.ng using a web browser. Do not use any other website.

2. Log in with the email address and password you used during your initial FCSC registration.

3. Access your applicant dashboard. If you have been shortlisted, you will see the message: ‘You have been shortlisted! Please proceed with the next steps of the application process by filling out the Shortlisted Candidates Form below.’

4. If shortlisted, complete the Shortlisted Candidates Form as directed on your dashboard page.

5. Download or note your shortlist confirmation details, assigned screening information, CBT date, and venue.

6. Print your invitation slip and keep it safe. You will need it at the CBT and screening center.

If your dashboard does not show a shortlist notification, you were not selected in this round. Your portal profile remains active. Monitor the FCSC website for future recruitment cycles.

What Happens After Shortlisting The Full Process

Stage 1: Computer-Based Test (CBT)

The FCSC conducts its examination using JAMB facilities to ensure credibility and transparency. Shortlisted candidates are assigned to CBT centers and notified of their dates and venues through the portal dashboard and via SMS or email. The CBT assesses general aptitude, English Language, Mathematics, and role-specific knowledge depending on the position applied for.

FCSC Head of Press and Public Relations Taiwo Hassan confirmed: ‘Candidates have been shortlisted. Those shortlisted have been sent an email with their preferred location for their Computer-Based Test, among other details.’

Stage 2: Physical Screening and Document Verification

Candidates who pass the CBT are invited for physical screening at assigned centers nationwide. You will be required to present original copies of all documents submitted during the application, including certificates, identification documents, state-of-origin documents, and your invitation slip. Any discrepancy between submitted and presented documents leads to disqualification.

Stage 3: Interview

Successful candidates from the screening stage proceed to a formal interview where technical and professional competencies are assessed by a panel of senior civil servants. Prepare by researching your professional field, understanding the role you applied for, and demonstrating knowledge of relevant federal government policies and priorities.

Stage 4: Appointment

Candidates who pass all stages receive an official appointment letter, marking their entry into the Nigerian Federal Civil Service under the Consolidated Public Salary Structure (CONPSS). Documents Required at the CBT and Screening Center

Prepare all of the following before your assigned CBT or screening date. Failure to present any required document may result in disqualification:

• Printed invitation slip: Downloaded from your FCSC portal dashboard. This is mandatory
• Application submission printout: The confirmation page from your initial FCSC application
• Birth Certificate or Age Declaration: Original and photocopy from a recognized authority
• O-Level certificate (WAEC/NECO/GCE/NABTEB): Original and photocopy WAEC/GCE/NECO scratch card required for verification at some centers
• Academic qualifications: Original and photocopies of your Degree, HND, OND, or NCE certificate from an accredited institution
• NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate: For all graduate applicants
• Completed Identification Form: Duly signed by one of the following: the Chairman or Secretary of your LGA; a military officer of Commander rank or above; or a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) or higher from your state of origin
• Parent/Guardian Consent Form: Signed by your parent or guardian, a critical requirement
• Four (4) recent passport photographs: Signed and stamped on the back by the same official who signed your Identification Form
• Valid means of identification: National ID Card (NIN-linked), Voter’s Card, International Passport, or Driver’s License, original and photocopy
