Have you completed your UTME and Post UTME screening and are now waiting for admission? The next step is to check your JAMB admission status on CAPS.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) uses the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) to process, approve, and monitor admissions into Nigerian universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other tertiary institutions.

Knowing how to check your admission status helps you stay informed, respond to admission offers promptly, and avoid missing important deadlines.

Here, we explain how to check your JAMB admission status online and by SMS, what each CAPS status means, and how to accept or reject an admission offer.

What is JAMB CAPS?

The Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) is JAMB’s online admissions platform that allows institutions to recommend qualified candidates for admission and enables JAMB to verify and approve those recommendations.

Every admission into a Nigerian tertiary institution must pass through CAPS before it becomes official. If your admission does not appear on CAPS, it is not recognized by JAMB.

Requirements Before Checking Your Admission Status

Before checking your admission status, ensure that:

  • Your WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB result has been uploaded to JAMB.
  • Your O’Level details are correctly reflected on CAPS.
  • You have completed your institution’s Post UTME screening (where applicable).
  • You have your JAMB registration number and login details.
