Important Points About the Shortlist
Released in Batches: Shortlist released in multiple batches (1st batch, 2nd batch, etc.). If your name is not in the 1st batch, keep checking for subsequent batches.

SMS/Email Notification: By default, all shortlisted candidates receive SMS or email notification.

Checking the shortlist is simple and straightforward. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Visit the Official Portal. Go to www.recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng OR https://www.immigrationrecruitment.org.ng/
Step 2: Locate the Status Form. Find the “Confirm Application Status” form on the homepage, or go to the Recruitment/Shortlist section.
Step 3: Enter Details. Provide your APPLICATION ID or PHONE NUMBER (used during registration) in the required field. Also, enter the NIN number and security Captcha (to prevent bots).
Step 4: Submit. Click the “Submit” button.
Step 5: The Access Shortlist site will load. Select the “Shortlisted Candidate” category OR look for the “Shortlisted Candidates 2026/2027” link.
Step 6: Download PDF tap to download a PDF file containing the shortlisted names. Download starts in a few seconds.
Step 7: Open PDF. Using any PDF reader on phone or computer, open the PDF file.
Step 8: Search Your Name. Use the search function (Ctrl + F on a computer, Search on phone) to quickly find your name. Alternatively, scroll down to verify if your name appears.
Step 9: Verify Details. Carefully check the list to confirm:
- Your full name
- State of origin/application
- Position applied for
- Screening details
- Screening location

NIS Screening Requirements 2026
Candidates whose names appear on the NIS shortlist are required to take part in the screening and documentation process. Below are mandatory requirements:
Documents Required
- Original and photocopies of academic certificates (WAEC, NECO, OND, NCE, HND, B.Sc, etc.)
- Birth certificate or sworn age declaration
- Certificate of state of origin
- Two recent passport photographs (not more than 3 months old)
- Valid identification cards: National Identification Number (NIN), Voter’s Card, Driver’s License, or International Passport
- NYSC discharge or exemption certificate (for graduates)
- Application slip printed from the NIS recruitment portal
- Printout of Confirmation Slip with ID number
- Printout of Screening Invitation Letter
- Medical Certificate of fitness from an accredited government or private hospital
- Completed Referee/Guarantor’s Form

Next Steps After Being Shortlisted
Congratulations! You are shortlisted. Here is what to expect:
1. Document Verification: Officials will verify the authenticity of all your documents (academic certificates, identification, medical certificates, etc.).
2. Physical Screening Test: Tests the candidate’s endurance, general health, and physical fitness. This is why PT shorts, vests, and canvas shoes are required.
3. Computer-Based Test (CBT): Examination covering general aptitude, logical reasoning, and understanding of general affairs/current events.
4. Interview: Oral interview to assess communication skills, knowledge, and suitability.
5. Medical Evaluation: Comprehensive medical fitness examination.
6. Final Selection: After completing all stages, the final list of successful candidates is released.
7. Training Invitation: Those who make the final stage are invited for training at the Immigration Training School.
