Available Positions and Cadres
NCS recruitment covers three major cadres with different entry requirements:
Category A: Customs Superintendent
Grade Level: CONSOLE 08 (CONAFSS equivalent)
Minimum Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc/BA/B.Eng) OR HND
NYSC: Discharge or Exemption Certificate required
Entry Level: Assistant Superintendent of Customs II (ASC II)
Category B: Customs Inspector
Grade Level: CONSOLE 06
Minimum Qualification: OND (Ordinary National Diploma), NCE (National Certificate in Education), or equivalent
Category C: Customs Assistant
Grade Level: CONSOLE 03, 04
Minimum Qualification: Secondary School Certificate (SSCE, WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, GCE) with 5 credits, including English and Mathematics
Additional: Trade Test Certificate or approved proficiency certificates, where applicable

Physical Requirements
- Height – Male: Minimum 1.7 meters
- Height – Female: Minimum 1.64 meters
- Weight: Not officially specified, but excessive weight (80-90+ kg without proportionate fitness) may disqualify
- Chest: Not officially specified, but fitness standards apply
- Medical Fitness: Must be medically and mentally fit – certificate from a government-approved hospital required
- Physical Fitness: Must be physically fit according to paramilitary standards
National Identification
NIN Requirement: A valid and active National Identification Number (NIN) is COMPULSORY. Invalid NIN = disqualification.

Step 4: Click Apply Now
Click the “Apply Now” button to open the online form.
Step 5: Create Account
Register with a valid and active email address and phone number. Ensure the phone is NOT on Do Not Disturb (DND) mode.
Step 6: Select Appropriate Cadre
Choose the correct cadre:
- Superintendent Cadre (B.Sc/HND)
- Inspectorate Cadre (ND/NCE)
- Customs Assistant Cadre (SSCE)

Step 7: Complete Form Carefully
Enter all personal information, NIN, academic records, and other required details accurately.

Step 11: Print Acknowledgement Slip
After successful submission, an acknowledgement slip appears. Print and keep safely for screening.
Step 12: Save Confirmation
Keep the acknowledgement slip for future screening and updates.
How to Reprint Acknowledgement Slip

2. Click “Print Acknowledgement Slip”
3. Enter your NIN
4. Click “Search”
5. If the application is successful, the slip will display
Common Portal Issues and Solutions

Selection Process
Stage 1: Application Screening. All applications undergo initial screening to verify eligibility and qualifications.
Stage 2: Short-listing. Only shortlisted candidates proceed to the next phase. Shortlist published on the portal.
Stage 3: CBT (Computer-Based Test)Aptitude test conducted at selected examination centres.
Stage 4: Physical Screening, document verification, height measurement, and medical checks.
Stage 5: Oral Interview. Shortlisted candidates invited for interviews.
Stage 6: Final Shortlist. Successful candidates receive appointment letters.
Stage 7: Training Mandatory training program at the Nigeria Customs Training School.
