About The Nigeria Customs Service
The Nigerian Customs Service was established in 1891 to collect revenue, account for it, and prevent smuggling. Today, it plays a crucial role in trade facilitation and is an essential element of economic policy.
However, with the growing international trade and increased economic crime, money laundering, and terrorism, the Nigerian Customs Service faces new challenges and an enlarged role.
Its mission is to provide efficient and effective services that promote trade competitiveness, while its vision is to excel in revenue collection, trade facilitation, and protection of Nigerian society. The Nigerian Customs Service has core and other functions as part of its statutory responsibilities.
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has seven departments overseen by a Comptroller-General, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and assisted by seven Deputy Comptrollers-Generals
The departments include the following:
- Finance Administration and Technical Service
- Tariff & Trade
- Enforcement, Investigation, and Inspection
- Strategic Research & Policy
- Human Resource Development
- Excise, FTZ, and Industrial Incentives
- Training and Doctrine Command(TRADOC)
Requirements
Applicants must meet specific requirements before applying for the Nigerian Customs Recruitment exercise. We have gathered information on these requirements and outlined them below.
- Nigerian National with a valid means of identification
- Degree from a recognized tertiary institution
- O-level result with credits in relevant subjects
- Within the required age range (18-35)
- Free from any physical deformity
- Male applicants must be at least 1.7m tall, while female applicants must be at least 1.64m tall.
- Male applicants must possess a minimum chest measurement of 0.87m

Please note that recruitment for the 2024 batch has not yet begun. The last batch’s recruitment process/application form started on September 17, 2022, and the shortlisted candidates were announced on March 16, 2023.
