Entry Requirements for National Diploma (ND)
To gain admission into any ND program at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, candidates must meet ALL of the following requirements:
JAMB/UTME Requirements
Institution Choice: Must have chosen The Polytechnic, Ibadan as first or second choice during the 2026/2027 UTME, OR be willing to change institution preference to Polytechnic Ibadan via JAMB CAPS.
JAMB Score: Minimum JAMB cut-off mark of 120-150 (varies by program). Most sources indicate 150 as the standard cut-off for Post-UTME eligibility.
Subject Combination: Must have sat for relevant subjects as specified by the program.
O-Level Requirements
Requirement: Must possess a minimum of five (5) O-Level credit passes in WAEC/SSCE/NECO/GCE/NABTEB obtained in not more than two (2) sittings.
Compulsory Subjects: English Language and Mathematics (both compulsory)
Additional Subjects: Three other credit passes relevant to the chosen program (e.g., Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Technical Drawing, Economics, etc.)
Age Requirement
Requirement: Candidates must be at least 16 years old at the time of admission.
Post-UTME Screening
Important Note: Post-UTME screening requirements vary. Some candidates may be required to participate in screening exercises while others may not, depending on the program.
Entry Requirements for Higher National Diploma (HND)
To gain admission into any HND program at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, candidates must meet ALL of the following requirements:
- National Diploma: Must possess a valid National Diploma (ND) Certificate in the relevant program from a recognised institution.
- Minimum Grade: At least a Lower Credit grade with a minimum CGPA of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or a CGPA of 2.5, depending on the program.
- Pass Grade Exception: In exceptional cases, candidates with a Pass grade (below Lower Credit) MAY be considered IF they have a minimum of two (2) years post-qualification work experience in the relevant field.
- Industrial Training: Must have completed a minimum of twelve (12) months of supervised Industrial Training (IT/SIWES) in the relevant industry.
- IT Completion Letter: Must present a valid IT/SIWES completion letter from the institution where ND was obtained.
- O-Level Requirements: Must still possess Five (5) O-Level credits, including English and Mathematics (same as ND requirements).
- Transcript: A transcript is required for admission, especially for candidates from other institutions.
Special Programmes
Postgraduate Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning (URP)
Requirements:
- Must hold both ND and HND certificates in Urban and Regional Planning (URP)
- NYSC Discharge Certificate or Exemption Certificate

Daily Part-Time Program (DPP)
Requirements:
- Attain a minimum JAMB score in the 2026/2027 UTME.

Continuing Education Centre (Part-Time) – HND
Requirements:
- Must possess a valid ND Certificate in the chosen program
- Completed IT/SIWES
- Meet all HND requirements.

Step 4: Enter JAMB Details (ND Applicants)
Provide your JAMB UTME registration number, year, and score.
