Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, one of Nigeria’s oldest, largest, and most prestigious federal universities, has officially released its Post-UTME Screening Form for the 2026/2027 academic session. Founded in 1962 and named after Sir Ahmadu Bello, the first Premier of Northern Nigeria, ABU Zaria is a comprehensive institution covering approximately 12,000 hectares in Zaria, Kaduna State, with 18 faculties, over 100 departments, and more than 40,000 students.
Eligibility requirements: Who can apply?
To be eligible for the ABU Zaria Post-UTME Screening for the 2026/2027 academic session, candidates must meet ALL of the following requirements:
UTME Candidates
- JAMB score: Must have scored a minimum of 180 in the 2026 UTME for all programs
- First choice: Must have chosen Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria as first-choice institution. JAMB second-choice candidates are not eligible
- O-Level: Must possess at least five (5) credit passes in relevant subjects from WAEC, NECO, GCE, or equivalent, obtained in not more than two (2) sittings, including English Language (and Mathematics where required for the course)
- Document consistency: Names on JAMB result, O-Level certificates, and application form must match exactly; discrepancies cause disqualification
Direct Entry (DE) Candidates
- Qualifications: Minimum of two A-Level/IJMB passes in relevant subjects OR an Upper Credit in an ND or NCE from an accredited institution, plus the required O-Level credits for the course
- Process: Direct Entry candidates register through the same Post-UTME portal
- HND Special Admission (300 Level): HND holders from accredited polytechnics may be eligible to enter at 300 Level, confirming specific departmental availability at abu.edu.ng
ABU Zaria Cut-off mark 2026/2027
The general minimum JAMB cut-off for ABU Zaria Post-UTME registration is 180 for all programs. However, 180 is an eligibility floor, not a competitive threshold.
In practical terms, a candidate with a JAMB score of 180 will be admitted to Education, Agriculture, or Arts without difficulty. Step-by-Step: How to apply for ABU Post-UTME form 2026/2027
The application is conducted entirely online through the official ABU eForms portal. Follow these steps carefully:
1. Visit the official ABU forms portal at portal.abu.edu.ng/forms using a browser; Google Chrome is recommended. Do not use any other website or pay any individual to register on your behalf.
2. Click on the ‘Post UTME / 2026/2027 Screening’ link or the active registration link on the homepage.
3. Log in using your JAMB registration number as your username. Your State of Origin is typically used as the initial password (verify the current login format on the portal). If creating a new profile is required, follow the on-screen instructions.
4. Generate a Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) code for payment of the ₦2,000 non-refundable screening fee.
5. Pay the ₦2,000 fee via one of the following methods:
• Online: Using a Visa, Verve, or MasterCard debit card through the Remita platform on the portal.
• At a Bank: Print your Remita payment slip and pay at any commercial bank. Candidates do not need to travel to Zaria to make a payment. ABU is not liable for payments made into any account other than the one specified on the official portal.
6. Return to the portal after payment, confirm your payment, and complete your application form with accurate personal details, academic information, and course of study.
7. Upload your passport photograph where required. Ensure the photo is clear, recent, and meets the specified format.
8. For Business Administration applicants: you will be required to select your preferred specialization, Actuarial Science, Banking and Finance, Business Management, or Marketing, from the provided options.
9. Print your Post-UTME scheduling/acknowledgment slip. This slip shows your assigned screening date and venue. Keep it safe; you must present it at the screening venue.
10. On the assigned screening date, report to your designated venue (IAIICT, DLC, or CBT Center) at least one hour before your scheduled time. Bring your original JAMB result printout and your printed Post-UTME scheduling slip.
On the day of screening, what you must know
Required Documents
- Original JAMB result printout: From the JAMB eFacility portal, the original print, not a photocopy
- Post-UTME scheduling slip: The printout from the ABU Post-UTME portal with your uploaded passport photograph and assigned date and venue
- Photocopies of all submissions: Keep these for your own record. ABU may not return originals
Prohibited Items at the Screening Venue
The following items are strictly prohibited at all ABU Post-UTME screening venues. Candidates found with any prohibited item may be denied entry or disqualified:
- GSM phones and all mobile phones
- iPads and tablets
- iPods and portable music players
- Wristwatches (all types)
- Walkmans and similar devices
- Any other electronic gadget or device
Notice to Parents and Guardians
Parents, guardians, and uninvited law enforcement agents will not be allowed into the ABU screening venue on screening days. Only candidates who are scheduled for the exercise will be granted access to the venue. Plan transportation and accommodation accordingly, especially for candidates travelling from other cities.
Arrival and Conduct
Report to your assigned venue at least one hour before your scheduled screening time. Venues fill up quickly, and late arrivals may have difficulty finding a seat. Dress appropriately, while there is no specified dress code, dress modestly and comfortably. Follow all instructions from venue officials and conduct yourself with discipline throughout the exercise.
ABU Post-UTME screening format
The ABU Zaria Post-UTME is a Computer-Based Test (CBT) conducted at designated CBT venues on the university campus. Key details:
- Format: Multiple-choice questions between 40 and 100 questions, depending on the session format.
- Coverage: Questions are based on your JAMB subject combination, the same subjects you sat for in the UTME.
- Duration: Set time limit communicated during the exercise (typically 45–90 minutes).
- Venues: Iya Abubakar Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IAIICT), Distance Learning Center (DLC), and CBT Center, all on the ABU Samaru campus.
- Results: Post-UTME results are released on the official ABU portal. Log in to check your score after the exercise.

Important notes and reminders
- Screening is compulsory: Candidates who do not sit the screening exercise on their assigned date will not be considered for admission. There are no automatic reschedules.
- No phones or devices: GSM phones, iPads, wristwatches, and all electronic devices are banned at the screening venue. Bring nothing electronic.
- Pay only through Remita: ABU is not liable for payments made to any other account. Use only the Remita platform specified on the official portal.
- Parents not allowed at venue: Only scheduled candidates will be granted access to the screening venue.
- Arrive one hour early: Venues fill quickly. Late arrivals risk missing their slot.
- First choice is mandatory: Second-choice candidates are not eligible for ABU Post-UTME. Change to first choice via JAMB CAPS if needed.
- Document consistency: Your name on JAMB, O-Level certificates, and the application form must all match exactly.
- Keep all photocopies: Retain copies of all submitted documents for your own records.
- Monitor the portal: Check abu.edu.ng and JAMB CAPS regularly for admission list updates and status.
- Accept your offer promptly: When the admission list is released, accept on JAMB CAPS within the stated deadline and complete departmental registration at ABU without delay.
- Second batch offers are valid: A second-batch admission from ABU is a full and genuine offer. Accept it with the same urgency as a first-batch offer.
