The Nigerian Navy has released the shortlisted candidates list for the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS) Batch 38 interview, following the recruitment examination conducted on 29th November 2025. This guide covers two key stages: the interview exercise (January–February 2026) and the subsequent training reporting notice for successful candidates (April 2026), including the full documents and items required for each stage.

Is the NNBTS Batch 38 Shortlist Out?

Yes. The Nigerian Navy has officially released the shortlist of candidates for NNBTS Batch 38. These are candidates who successfully passed the nationwide recruitment examination held on 29th November 2025. The shortlist was published through an official press release issued by the Navy Secretary in December 2025.

How to Check the Batch 38 Shortlist

1. Visit the official Nigerian Navy recruitment portal at joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng. Or download the PDF below: NNBTS PDF Download 
2. Look for the ‘Shortlisted Candidates’, ‘Batch 38 Shortlist’, or ‘List of Successful Candidates’ section.
3. Download the PDF list of shortlisted candidates.
4. Open the PDF and press Ctrl+F (PC) or use the search function on your phone to locate your name or application number.
5. If your name appears, note your geopolitical zone. This determines which interview center and date apply to you.
6. Print the shortlist page showing your name and bring it to the interview venue.

Stage 1: Interview Exercise January – February 2026

Shortlisted candidates are invited to participate in the interview exercise at one of two designated centers. The interview runs concurrently at both centers, with candidates grouped by geopolitical zone.

What the Interview Exercise Involves

According to the official Nigerian Navy statement, the NNBTS Batch 38 interview exercise will involve:

• Screening and verification of credentials: Officials verify every original document against copies submitted during the online application
• Medical and physical evaluation: Height, fitness, visual acuity, and overall medical fitness assessment
• Written test: Assessment of general knowledge and Navy-relevant competencies

The interview is conducted individually. Any candidate found deficient in any of the required criteria will be disqualified at any stage of the exercise, including after the interview has commenced.

Stage 1 Items: What to Bring to the Interview Exercise

Documents (Originals and Photocopies)

• Printout of duly signed application form
• Original and photocopies of all academic credentials
• Valid Category H driver’s license: where required for the applicable entry category
• Certificate of state of origin or local government area identification
• National Identity Card or acknowledgment slip
• Bank Verification Number (BVN) printout: must be presented during screening
• WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or NBAIS scratch cards: for online result verification, where applicable
• NIN (National Identification Number) printout or slip

Clothing and Personal Items

• Two (2) pairs of navy blue shorts
• Two (2) white unmarked T-shirts / round-neck vests
• One (1) pair of canvas shoes or trainers with stockings
• Bedsheet and pillowcase
• A set of cutlery
• Four (4) recent passport photographs: 30mm × 30mm, on a white background
• Personal toiletries
• Writing materials: pen, pencil, eraser for the written test component

Stage 2: Training Reporting NNBTS Onne, Rivers State

Candidates who successfully passed the interview exercise have been invited to report for training at the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School, Onne, Rivers State. This is the final and most important stage before formal Navy enlistment.

• Training Reporting Date: Saturday, 11th April 2026
• Deadline: 14th April 2026, all candidates must have reported by this date.
• Venue: Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS), Onne, Rivers State

Parent/Guardian Consent Form MANDATORY

Every Batch 38 candidate reporting for training must bring a completed Parent/Guardian Consent Form. This is a non-negotiable requirement. Here is what you must do:

1. Download the Parent/Guardian Consent Form from the official Nigerian Navy website at joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng. 
2. Have the form completed and signed by your parent or guardian.
3. Take the signed form to a court of law to have it officially stamped and endorsed.
4. Bring the stamped, endorsed, signed form with you when you report for training.

Warning: Failure to present the duly stamped and endorsed Parent/Guardian Consent Form upon arrival at NNBTS Onne will result in automatic disqualification from the training program. Do not report without it.

Stage 2 Items: What to Bring When Reporting for Training

Candidates reporting for training at NNBTS Onne must arrive with all of the following. This is a comprehensive list of items from the official Nigerian Navy notice:

• NIN printout slip

• WAEC and NECO scratch cards: for verification of results

• Two (2) navy blue coloured physical training (PT) shorts

Official Warnings from the Nigerian Navy

• Individual interviews: The interview is conducted individually group coaching or misrepresentation is not possible
• False information: Any false information or declaration made by a candidate leads to outright cancellation of candidature and possible prosecution by the Nigeria Police Force
• Forged documents: Candidates found with forged documents will be arrested and prosecuted by the Nigeria Police Force
• Impersonation: Candidates found impersonating others will be arrested and prosecuted
• Wrong date or center: Failure to report at the designated center on the assigned date results in forfeiture of candidature
• Training deadline: Failure to report for training by 14th April 2026 leads to automatic disqualification and withdrawal of placement without further notice
