Oyo State teacher recruitment in 2026/2027. The Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) and the State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB) have not published a shortlist of candidates or announced a new application round. The most recent official reporting concerns the 2024 exercises: the TESCOM secondary school portal, which opened in June 2024, and the SUBEB primary school exercise, whose first batch of 5,600 teachers was released in November 2024. The Last TESCOM Exercise

In late June 2024, the Oyo State Government approved the recruitment of 7,500 teachers and 3,000 non-teaching staff into the state teaching service. TESCOM conducted the exercise under the supervision of an inter-ministerial committee, and the notice said the applications were free and open for about two weeks. Applicants could apply for the teaching or the non-teaching category but not both. Registration required a National Identification Number, a working email address and a phone number.

The announced selection stages were an online application, a computer-based test and an oral interview. TESCOM Chairman Akinade Alamu said the recruitment would be merit-based and that the government planned to recruit more teachers in addition to those already in service. Sources reviewed could not confirm a TESCOM shortlist or appointment announcement for this exercise, so check the TESCOM channels for the outcome.

The SUBEB Primary School Lists

The OYOSUBEB exercise opened on 25 June 2024 for 7,000 primary teachers and 100 caregivers for special schools, with a CBT and oral interview for shortlisted applicants. The Board announced a first batch of 5,600 teachers and 80 caregivers on 20 November 2024, to be viewed on the state job portal, and said successful candidates would undergo verification at the Board’s headquarters. Appointments took effect from 1 January 2025, with letters distributed from 6 January 2025 at the Local Government Universal Basic Education Authority offices and, for candidates with disabilities and caregivers, at the Board headquarters in Agodi.

In December 2025, SUBEB Chairman Nureni Adeniran said 8,197 applicants scored 50 marks or more and that the remaining qualified applicants would be prioritised once Governor Seyi Makinde approves the next recruitment round. No date was given. That means unplaced SUBEB candidates are waiting for approval, not for a new application.

How to Check an Oyo Teachers List

1. Open the Oyo State job portal HERE  that you used to apply: the TESCOM portal for secondary school posts or the SUBEB portal for primary school posts.
2. Log in with the email address and details you registered with.
3. Look for the notice of successful or shortlisted candidates and open the list for your category.
4. Search for your name or application number.
5. Read the verification instructions, required documents and dates before you travel.

Candidates have been told that they will receive further details by email, so check your inbox and spam folder regularly.

Documents to Prepare for Verification

The official notices reviewed did not include a full checklist of required documents. Teacher verification in Nigeria usually involves the items below, so keep them ready and confirm the list with the body handling your category.

• Original and photocopied academic and professional certificates.
• Valid identification, including your NIN.
• Evidence of your application or examination number.
• Birth certificate or age declaration, and local government of origin certificate.
• Recent passport photographs.
• TRCN registration or certificate where applicable.

Beware of Fake Lists and Dates

Many websites and social media pages publish screening dates and lists for Oyo State without citing an official notice. Treat any date or list that does not come from the Oyo State Government, TESCOM or OYOSUBEB as unconfirmed, and do not pay for a list or a place on one.
