Eligibility Requirements

General Requirements: All BMTC Applicants

• Citizenship: Must be a Nigerian citizen by birth
• NIN: A valid National Identification Number is mandatory
• Character: Must be of good character with no previous criminal conviction
• Fitness: Must be medically, physically, and psychologically fit
• Height: Male minimum 1.66 m | Female minimum 1.63 m
• Marital status: Single applicants only; married candidates are not eligible
• No tattoos: Candidates with tattoos or body inscriptions are automatically disqualified

• No secret society or cult membership

Category 1 Non-Tradesmen/Women

For candidates with school certificate qualifications:

• Qualification: Minimum of five (5) credits in SSCE, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB, must include English Language and Mathematics
• Sittings: Credits must be obtained in not more than two sittings
• Certificate age: Must not be older than six (6) years from the date of application

Category 2 Tradesmen/Women

For candidates with a diploma, certificate, or vocational qualifications:

• Age: 18–25 years (18–28 for Drivers, Assistant Chaplains, Assistant Imams, and Sportsmen/Sportswomen)
• ND/NCE holders: Minimum of a lower credit in ND or NCE from an approved institution, plus a minimum of two SSCE/NECO/GCE/NABTEB passes, including a credit in English Language, max two sittings
• Trade Test holders: Relevant trade test certificate from an approved institution, plus two SSCE/NECO passes with a credit in English
• Drivers: Two SSCE/NECO passes with English credit plus a valid trade test certificate
• Sportsmen/Sportswomen: Evidence of professional sporting experience, including certificates and medals
• Other trade certificates: NABTEB, RN/RM, City and Guilds, relevant to the specific trade being applied for

How to Apply: Step-by-Step Guide

When the portal opens for the next BMTC cycle, follow these steps:

1. Open your browser and visit the official NAF recruitment portal at nafrecruitment.airforce.mil.ng. Verify the URL before entering any details.
2. Review all eligibility requirements and guidelines on the portal before starting your application.
3. Click ‘Register’ or ‘Apply Now’. Create an account using the email address and phone number you check daily.
4. Select BMTC and choose your specific category, Non-Tradesmen/Women or Tradesmen/Women, and the trade or branch you are applying for.
5. Fill in your personal information accurately: full name (as it appears on your certificates), date of birth, state of origin, LGA, and next-of-kin details. Match every date to your official documents.
6. Enter your academic qualifications and upload scanned copies of all required documents in the formats specified on the portal.

• Stage 4 Selection Board Interview: Candidates who pass the aptitude test attend the Selection Board Interview at NAF Base, Kaduna, which includes document verification, physical fitness assessment, medical examination, and interview

What BMTC Training Involves

Upon successful selection, Airmen and Airwomen undergo approximately six months of intensive Basic Military Training. The training program covers:

• Military discipline and drill
• Weapon handling and safety
• Basic Air Force operations and doctrine
• Physical training and endurance conditioning
• Technical training in your assigned trade or specialty
• Air Force rules, regulations, and code of conduct

On successful completion of training, candidates are formally inducted as Airmen or Airwomen in the Nigerian Air Force and are posted to their first duty station.
