NSCDC Shortlist 2026: How to Check Civil Defence Shortlisted Candidates and Final List Status
Last updated:
The NSCDC shortlist for the current recruitment is published on the CDCFIB portal, recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng, not on a separate Civil Defence site. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps recruits through the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), together with the other three Ministry of Interior services. The CBT, physical screening and oral interviews are done. The final list has not been released yet.
Below: how to check your status, each stage so far, the NSCDC ranks in this exercise and what to prepare.
Where the Civil Defence exercise stands
| Stage | Date | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Online application | 21 July – 11 August 2025 | Closed |
| Computer-based test (online) | From 12 November 2025 | Done |
| Physical screening and document check | Scheduling 15 – 20 June 2026; 14 centres | Done |
| Oral interview shortlist | Graduates 31 Aug – 2 Sep 2026; NCE/OND/SSCE 7 – 9 Sep 2026 | Done |
| Oral interviews | From 7 September 2026 | Done |
| Final list of successful candidates | Not announced | Pending |
This is the Board’s 2024/2025 recruitment exercise. In August 2026 the Board said it had reached the final stage and that results would be posted on the portal.
Is the NSCDC shortlist out?
The CBT, screening and oral interview shortlists have all been released on the CDCFIB portal. The final list of successful candidates is still pending. When it comes out, the “civil defence shortlist portal” you need is the same recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng dashboard you used to apply.
How to check civil defence shortlisted candidates
- Go to recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng, the only portal for this exercise. Type the address yourself.
- Log in with the details you used to apply, including your Application Number.
- Read the status message on your dashboard. It shows the stage your application has reached.
- If the portal gives you a slip or a next step, print or save it.
PDF lists and screenshots shared online are not reliable. Many come from older exercises. Check your own dashboard instead.
NSCDC ranks in this exercise
These were the Civil Defence posts and qualifications in the 2025 advert:
| Rank (grade) | Qualification in the 2025 advert |
|---|---|
| Assistant Superintendent II (CONPASS 08) | B.Sc or HND |
| Inspector (CONHESS 06) | RN, RM or RN/RM (nursing and midwifery) |
| Assistant Inspector (CONPASS 06) | ND or NCE |
| Assistant II (CONPASS 04) | Five O’Level credits in not more than two sittings, or Trade Test Grade II |
| Assistant III (CONPASS 03) | Four O’Level credits in not more than two sittings, or Trade Test Grade III |
NSCDC officers protect critical national infrastructure such as pipelines and power lines, help in disasters and supervise private guard companies. The Corps has been part of the government’s response to pipeline vandalism and attacks on schools.
What to prepare while you wait
- Original documents: NIN slip, birth certificate or court age declaration, LGA identification letter, O’Level result(s) and your highest qualification.
- Your acknowledgment slip and every slip the portal gave you.
- The same name and date of birth on your NIN and every certificate.
See our NSCDC recruitment guide for requirements and pay grades, the CDCFIB recruitment portal guide for the next application window, and the CDCFIB shortlist page for updates across all four services.
Why candidates can still miss out at the last stage
The Board interviewed far more people than it can hire: about 1.9 million applied across the four services for around 30,000 places. Civil Defence candidates who reached the oral interview should still expect strong competition, and a few avoidable problems knock people out late:
- Different names or dates of birth across your NIN slip, birth certificate and certificates.
- Applying twice or to two services, which the Board treats as grounds for disqualification.
- Skipping a booked screening or interview slot without a reason the Board accepted.
- Unverifiable certificates. Certificates are verified, and ones that cannot be confirmed end the application.
Not on the final NSCDC list?
Hold on to your Application Number and every slip. Recruitment boards occasionally publish supplementary lists when places are left unfilled, and you would need those records. Then get ready for the next CDCFIB exercise. The 2025 advert required applicants to be 18 to 35 years old, at least 1.65 m tall for men and 1.60 m for women, and medically fit. Civil Defence work involves long shifts guarding installations and responding to emergencies, so physical fitness and a clean record matter as much as certificates.
New Civil Defence recruitment will be announced on recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng and the Corps’ official pages. Ignore any “NSCDC form” link that points anywhere else.
Beware of scams
Recruitment into the NSCDC through CDCFIB is free at every stage. Nobody can add your name to a shortlist or the final list for money, and the Board does not ask for “verification” fees. Ignore messages that ask for payment or your login details.
Frequently asked questions

On recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng. Log in with your Application Number and read your dashboard.
Is the NSCDC final list out?
Not yet. The Board has said results will be published on the portal.
Is NSCDC recruitment form open?
No. The next form will open only after the Board ends this exercise and announces a new one.
Does NSCDC have its own recruitment portal?
No. All NSCDC recruitment runs through the CDCFIB portal.
Can I check my Civil Defence status with my NIN?
The portal asks for the Application Number generated when you registered (and the password you set), not your NIN.
How many places are available?
Roughly 30,000 across all four CDCFIB services, from about 1.9 million applicants. The Board has not published a separate NSCDC figure.
Will the final list come as a PDF?
The Board publishes results on the portal. Even if a PDF is shared later, your dashboard remains the record that counts.
What is CDCFIB?
The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board, chaired by the Minister of Interior. It recruits, promotes and disciplines officers of the four services, including the NSCDC.
